Frequently Asked Questions

Sailing Planner Guide for Greece
How Long Should My Sailing Trip Be?

The minimum charter period is 7 days, which begins (5pm) and ends (9am) on a Saturday with the exception of motor-yachts and motor-sailers – please inquire. Depending in which area you want to sail to, we either recommend a minimum of seven or fourteen days. For example, if you want to sail in the Saronic Gulf (Aegina, Poros, Hydra etc.), you can accomplish this excursion in 7 days. If you want to sail in the Aegean/Cyclades region (Mykonos, Syros etc.), you need at least 14 days to enjoy a good number of islands in that region.

Ask us for the best routes to take in order to match the length of your trip. In any case, it's all weather permitting and the best person to discuss it with is your skipper upon embarkation.

What Are the Local Requirements with Regards to Sailing Experience and Certificates?

The Greek Port Authorities require at least one individual on-board to carry a valid sailing certificate and a second person with adequate sailing experience; otherwise, we can arrange for a competent English-speaking skipper to sail the yacht for you.

What Are the Best Times to Travel/Sail to Greece?

The cruising season runs from March to November. Spring weather can be cool or delightfully warm during the day but cool in the evening. The water is not warm enough for swimming until early to mid May. The best part of the spring season is that there are relatively few tourists around. The same can be said about autumn.

May, June, September and October offer good winds along with tropical summertime temperatures during the day with mild and pleasant evenings. Swimming can be enjoyed from May through the middle of October.

July and August are months when the Meltemi (strong Northern winds) are most apparent. These winds can blow as hard as forty knots for periods of up to a week although you are more likely to experience breezes in the thirty knot range for a few days at a time. This exists daily from 10am to 3pm.

How Do I Choose the Ideal Yacht For My Needs and Budget?

When choosing the ideal yacht for you and your family/group, kindly consider the following:
  • Bareboat (two valid sailing certificates required) or with a skipper
  • How many people in your group? This determines the number of cabins
  • Size of yacht you are comfortable with. A matter of personal preference
  • Budget per day/week. Provisions, fuel, water, port/harbor dues and end- cleaning are extra
It goes without saying that we will assist you in every way possible, through our experience, on which type of yacht would be considered ideal for your charter needs.

How Do I Get to My Chartered Yacht from Athens Airport?

We can arrange your airport transfer from/to the Athens International airport to/from the marina where your chartered yacht is located. The distance is approximately 35kms. And a taxi ride to the marina or hotel in that area will cost approximately $20/€22

What Do I Need to Bring With Me?

We make every effort to equip our yachts for your comfort and safety. Towels and bed linen/pillows are included, however, since every cabin receives one set of each, we advise that you bring additional towels, linen as well as beach towels (which are not included on yachts). In addition, we recommend that you bring along a hat/cap, sun tan lotion and so on – and that's about it.

How Do I Book/Pay?

We require a 50% deposit upon booking which may either be paid by SWIFT wire-transfer to a bank account we designate or by Bank Draft. The balance is to be paid upon embarkation in cash or deposited to a bank account at least 10 days prior to your arrival. We do not accept credit cards due to security factors and excessive fees imposed by local banks.

We look forward to offering you our personalized service along with our safe and well-maintained/equipped yachts.
