Nova Scotia has strong Scottish roots, but for a population of about a million it is remarkably diverse: with Mikmaq peoples, black Nova Scotians, French Acadians, Annapolis Valley farmers, lobster fishermen, and Haligonians all forming distinctive groups. Unless you are a winter surfer, or like to snowshoe, then it is probably best to visit Nova Scotia sometime June through October when the weather is warm and the skies are blue.
