Travel to ChiosThe island of Chios lies in the of North Aegean South of Lesvos and North of Samos. The Turkish port of Ephesus is just 5.5km away.FAIR ENOUGH... but how do you get here? Well, there are two ways to travel to Chios. You can come with a Boat or a Plane... It takes about 8.5 hours by ferry from the main port of Piraeus in Athens and just 3.5 hours from Lesvos. You can also fly to and from the island in less than an hour from Athens International Airport or 25 minutes from Lesvos. We have been agents for N.E.L (The main ferry companies servicing the island of Chios) for the last six years and our on-line system provides us with up to the minute information on the daily and weekly sailings between the islands and mainland Greece. Having said that Greece is notoriously slow to release details and licenses to the increasing number of ferry companies which service the islands. NEL lines offers a daily service to Chios from the main port of Piraeus in Athens. The journey lasts 8 hours and is usually overnight. The route then continues on the the island of Lesvos which takes approx 4 hours.
You can also travel by ferry from and to the Northern island of Limnos and the mainland ports of Thessoloniki, Kavala & Alexandropoli. There is a Samos - Chios ferry twice per week and connections with the smaller islands of Psara three times per week and Innousses every day. Boat trips to Tsesme are available four days per week. Tsesme is the most important port on the Turkish coast and Izmir is just two hours away by car.
