Coventry has long been noted in legend as the ancient market town through which Lady Godiva took her famous ride. The modern Coventry Cathedral was dedicated in 1962 to replace the medieval cathedral bombed during WWII. Benjamin Britten's War Requiem was written to commemorate the event.
