Mulhouse is a town and commune in eastern France close to Swiss and German borders. It is the largest town in Haut-Rhin, and the second largest in Alsace after Strasbourg. The first written records of Mulhouse date from the 12th century. It was part of the southern Alsatian county of Sundgau in the Holy Roman Empire
