Meteora Hotels

Most people who stay overnight either in the modern town of Kalambaka or in the small village of Kastraki. There are hotels and rooms of different catagories as well as campsites in both towns.Kastraki is smaller and closer to the monasteries and most people prefer staying here.

Kalambaka and Kastraki are only a fifteen minute walk from each other so if you can't find rooms in one town just go to the next. But in the summer months you are advised to book in advance since chances are you will find something but there is always the possibility you won't.

Both towns have many restaurants but because it is such a popular area with tourists prices can be high and quality can be...well, never mind. But my friends at Lonely Planet recommend Diethnes restaurant in Kalambaka as well as the Koka Rkoa Taverna and Taverna Stathmos. In Kastraki try Gardenia, Platania near the main square, Philoxenia on the main road and Dellas Psistaria opposite Vrachos Campgrounds. You can rent motobikes from any number of shops in Kalambaka
