Participate in a Marble Sculpture Workshop on the Island of Tinos The studio welcomes everyone interested in being a part of a creative learning sculpture studio. Now this is a magical journey! Novice and master carvers work side by side to develop and improve the traditional marble carving skills that have been handed down from Ancient Greek times. Individual instruction will be given to each participant according to their level of experience using a wide range of hand tools and local Tinos marble. The sun-filled studio adjoins a well-equipped marble workshop with all amenities to cut marble to sculptors' requirements. The Marble Sculpture Studio works from 9:30am until 2:00pm Monday through Saturday. The afternoons and evenings are free to enjoy the sea, discover the picturesque villages, or return to the studio for two additional hours of unassisted work. Sunday excursions are available to the islands of Mykonos, Syros or Delos, the ancient site of the sanctuary of Apollo. Artists are welcome from May through October and they are encouraged to work for no less than two weeks. The cost for the first two weeks is $750 U.S. dollars and $200 U.S. dollars for each additional week, or the equivalent amount in Euro/€. A deposit of $250 U.S. dollars is required to reserve your space at the studio. Currency rates fluctuate so sculptors wishing to pay in Euro may make a deposit of €265 and the balance due will be in accordance to the exchange rate on the day they begin work at the studio. Accommodation on Tinos is available from A and B class hotels, studios, apartments, and village houses, many within walking distance of the studio. The price of the workshop does not include accommodation. Students and professionals of all ages have come from throughout Europe, North and South America to enjoy Tinos and participate in the Marble Sculpture Studio. Tinos itself offers fascinating mountain villages, cliff-top churches and wonderful beaches. While opportunities for vigorous walks and exploration abound, taverns are around every corner.
