The Dodecanese, or Dodekanese lie to the east of the Cyclades, near the coast of Turkey. The islands of the Dodecanese, like so many of the Greek Islands, are the actual mountain tops of land that once connected Greece with Asia Minor. The land sank into the Mediterranean sea four million years ago.
