 The Cyclades, Greek Islands ...
The Cyclades
are the most popular Greek Islands, for good reason. Well serviced by ferry routes, and close to each other for island-hopping, they are the archetypal Greek Island.
Beautiful sandy beaches, great archaeological sites, stunning sunsets, dramatic scenery and warm, friendly Greek hospitality.
Sparkling white sugar cube buildings set against the deep turquoise blue of the roofs, sky, and water all around.
Truly stunning. And like all Greek Islands, each island in the Cyclades has it's own unique character and style.
Because of their popularity, and their close proximity to each other, they are serviced regularly by ferries and hydrofoils, and some of the larger islands have an airport. The Cyclades have a lot of visitors, so if you're planning to visit in July or August you'll need to have a reservation.
Civilization in the Cyclades dates back to around 5,000 B.C. and reached it's peak 3,000-1,000 B.C. The islands are rich in history and you'll discover remnants of Minoan, Phoenecian, Turkish, Venetian, and Roman influence.

Andros, Cyclades, Greek Islands
Boats are from Rafina and take about 3 hours. The ferryboat goes to Gavrio.
The Hermes Flying Dolphin goes to Batsi which is touristy but fun. Lots of
activities and some great restaurants, particularly in the small traditional
villages in the hills above.
The best place is the main town of Andros on the
other side of the island. No autos allowed in the village which juts out on a
peninsula between two long beaches. There is a shipping museum and an
excellent art museum there. Because of the wealth of the village tourism is
not encouraged. Good reason to go there. Renting a car is recommended. This
is a beautiful, green island that even has a small river or two.
