ITINERARY :
- DAY 1 : ATHENS
On arrival, you will be met by our assistant and transferred to your hotel by our taxi driver. Rest of the day at leisure.
- DAY 2 : ATHENS/NAFPLIO
After breakfast pick up the car at the hotel and drive towards the Peloponnese. You can make a short stop at the canal of Corinth. Then on to Mycenae to visit the imposing Lion's Gate and Tomb of Agamemnon. On the way to Nafplion visit the well preserved ancient theatre of Epidaurus, famous all over the world for its brilliant acoustics. Arrive in Nafplion, the first capital of modern Greece, a beautiful little town by the sea with many well preserved neoclassical houses and a small island that hosts a miniature castle right in front of the harbour. You can stroll around the old part of the city or go up to the Palamidi Fortress. Overnight in Nafplion. (B)
- DAY 3 : NAFPLIO/SPARTI
You can take the national road via Tripoli to head to Sparti, passing through many little picturesque villages. There you can visit the beautiful Byzantine town of Mystras, with its many churches and the castle of Villehardouin. Overnight in Sparti. (B)
- DAY 4 : SPARTI/PYLOS
Drive through the wild beauty of the Mani region dotted with little villages both on the mountains and by the sea and pass through Kalamata, a city that has almost completely recovered from a shattering earthquake in 1986. Then head to the picturesque little town of Pylos, built on a hill overlooking the Navarino bay. Overnight in Pylos. (B)
- DAY 5 : PYLOS/OLYMPIA
From Pylos you can start your day by visiting the beautiful sandy beach of Finikounda, Methoni and Koroni and also see the Palace of King Nestor. Then head to Olympia where the first Olympic Games took place in 776 B.C. You will visit the ancient site with the stadium and the palestra, the temples of Zeus and Hera, as well as the museum of the Olympic Games. Overnight in Olympia. (B)
- DAY 6 : OLYMPIA/DELPHI
Drive through the plains of Ilia and Achaia up to Patras, take the ferry crossing Rio-Antirrio and continue towards Delphi, driving through Nafpaktos, Galaxidi and Itea, beautiful little picturesque towns by the sea, absolutely a must. In Delphi you may visit the Temple of Apollo, the ancient stadium, the Castalia spring and the museum with the famous bronze statue of the Charioteer (Iniohos). Overnight in Delphi. (B)
- DAY 7 : DELPHI/KALAMBAKA
In the morning departure for Kalambaka. It's worthwhile to make a short stop at Ossios Loucas, a Byzantine monastery built in the 11th century, with exquisite frescoes and mosaics. As you arrive in Kalambaka the mysterious black rock formations of Meteora with monasteries precariously perched on their summits will take your breath away. Overnight in Kalambaka. (B)
- DAY 8 : KALAMBAKA/ATHENS
Visit the astonishing Byzantine monasteries that were built in the 11th century. The most famous ones are the "Great Meteoron", the "Varlaam", "Aghios Stefanos" and "Aghios Nikolaos". It is time to return to Athens passing through Trikala, Lamia, Thermopylae (Leonida's monument) and the spa town of Kamena Vourla. (B)
- DAY 9 : ATHENS/AIRPORT
You will be met by our assistant at your hotel and transferred to the airport by our taxi driver for your departure flight. (B)
