EVIA, the largest of the Sporades Greek Islands, is separated from the mainland by a channel only 40 metres wide. The channel is known as the Strait of Evriposa where you can see a unique phenomenon related to the moon and tidal phenomenons. Every 6 hours, the the current in the striaght changes direction.
A bridge connects the mainland with Chalkida, the pretty capital of Evia (or Euboea). The Sporades includes; Alonissos, EVIA, SKIATHOS, SKOPELOS, and Skyros. |
